"The Hobbit" by Tolkien brought to life in 3D technology, "Mistika" SGO

Madrid • The film version of "The Hobbit" by JRR Tolkien takes shape with Peter Jackson at the address and the Spanish company in charge of SGO technology that will allow the adventures of Bilbo Baggins reach the 3-D screens with a special finish.

Technical director of the film post-production, Phil Oatley, explained today in Madrid who chose technology "Mistika" SGO to give the final touch to the footage shot in three dimensions.

"Quite simply, they are two years ahead than other companies in the competition, so do not hesitate to work with them," confessed Oatley.

A Spanish company with little more than twenty workers get put at the forefront of 3D post-production effects, "a matter of luck," said Miguel Angel Doncel Efe, president of SGO, but just look at its journey to realize that more than a lucky man, Doncel has been a visionary.

In 1993, just 25 years, Doncel, recent graduate in computer science, had to struggle between "making money or doing that for you to enjoy." He decided to enjoy his work, founded SGO and imposed a goal that seemed unrealistic that time: to help the audiovisual industry through information technology.

Since then, he has continued to create software dedicated to improving the performance of different types of productions and always with the premise of meeting market demands as quickly as possible.

Thus, Doncel, skeptical of stereoscopic technology a few years ago, joined their service offering the possibility of treating 3D images.

By then I had realized that "the stereo is not capable by itself to make good a movie is bad, but has the power to make a good movie end up being special."

As special as expected as the result of "The Hobbit", which began working SGO in late 2010 after Jackson's team will be thrilled with the Spanish company's technology at a technology fair in Las Vegas (EU ).

In recent months, and using the software "Mistika" a sort of "Photoshop" motion picture that has the distinction of being able to process 3D images as well, SGO team faces the challenge of working with 8 to 12 terabytes of information generated in the shoot day.

"Mistika" is also the only system on the market capable of processing real-time footage shot at a speed of 48 frames per second (normal is 24) which together with SGO 3D treaty will allow the tape reaches the screens end of 2012 with a finish you do not seen to date.

The result is that viewers "will not see a movie with depth, but have the feeling that the action is transpiring right in front of them," said Oatles.

Doncel, SGO has managed to position itself as one of the audio-visual post-production companies leading the world, believes the sector is key "in 3D, but 3D well done", he said, because " do it with regular, do it perfect for creating that sense of immersion and that people do not end up with a headache. "

While agreeing on the quality of your system "Mistika" believes that talking about the chance to win an Oscar "would be pretentious" at that time complies with the opportunity to work with "a genius" as Peter Jackson and enjoy mission of "exporting Spanish technology."

Discuss proposals for promotion of Free Software

Representatives of groups of the National Community of Free Software, production units and public and academic institutions belonging to the NationalRepository computer Applications (RNA), discussed proposals for sustainability, promotion and proper functioning of this service.

RNA is a collaborative space of reference, in which they find and fosterapplications, tools and projects in information technologies, which are developed in free software, utility and interest to the Public Administration and organized communities, said a note press.

This tool designed by the National Center of Information Technologies (CNTI), is available on the website http://repositorio.softwarelibre.gob.ve and has a widerange of benefits geared to the downloading, publishing and collaborative development computer applications.

In this sense, the activity is developed through two workshops with the participation of representative from each sector in order to discriminate betweenthe different proposals or action plans. In the first, on the Functioning of the Committee RNA, came the development of a taste of Canaima GNU / Linux for Small and Medium Enterprises.

While in the second, on the Participation, Promotion and Dissemination Service, outline strategies and collaborative participation of institutions and development communities, ranging from updating content, improved tools, incorporating a technology platform test to the design and publishing banner, brochures and informational materials.

Currently, the service has been redesigned in its presentation and functionality to the public, inter-operate automatically with collaborative development platform, toa future integration with Public Software International (SPI).

Despite its decrease compared to 2010, the BPM is in good health

The financial situation being experienced by Spain remains fragile, why 2011 will close with a growth in line with expectations, but below the figure obtained in 2010. Indeed, according to the latest figures in the Fourth Annual Study on the implementation of BPM technologies in Spain produced by the Club-BPM, last year the figure rose to 9%, while this year's BPM will grow only 6, 8%.
However, companies, despite the country's economic stagnation, are hoping for a recovery in the second half of 2012 and therefore are more open to investing in BPM solutions that allow them to be more competitive in a global world Thus, the BPM indicator of growth in 2012, if the economy begins to rebound as expected, growth is expected to reach between 7 and 10%.

Another positive aspect is that Spain is still the third country in Europe, located behind Germany and England, which is progressing well and steadily for several years in business and in government, in terms of automation and process management is concerned. Thus, the degree of implementation of BPM solutions, 39.6% of companies surveyed said to have some type of BPM solution, mainly analysis solutions, modeling and design of processes and BPM Workflow.Furthermore, 36% say having a project within the next 12 months.

ConfusionThe counterpoint puts the high degree of ignorance about the implications of business process management. The fundamental problem is that there is a perception that the acquired technology itself can automate business processes and solve business problems, but really, as the Club-BPM warning, just a set of pieces of software that does not include techniques, and implementation methodologies, knowledge management and cross-business processes from beginning to end and across all functional units of the company.
The report notes that training therefore becomes crucial to solve this problem. Thus, 87% of users consider it very important for the successful implementation in the enterprise BPM.

Mozilla starts creating its own operating system

Excited. How I felt when I heard the news. I do not know what you think, but Mozilla Foundation, the sponsor of historical software like Firefox is interested in entering the market for operating systems sounds like innovation, fresh ideas, competition, and open source community. The issue will thus:
Mozilla believe the web can move stacks of proprietary, single vendor, for application development. To make the open web is a better platform for both desktop applications and mobile web need to boost the capabilities of offering the software stacks in question.
Yes, the project is called Booting to Gecko-B2G, to shorten words Gecko is the name of the rendering engine that uses the browser-would focus first on building a mobile operating system and would involve the development of:
New interfaces for application development, which may well be for telephony, SMS, Camera, USB, NFC, etc.
A model of privileges which give rise to the creation of secure web applications, one of the Achilles heels of the so called HTML5. This model should be reasonably sure that access to hardware and other parts of the system is safe.
A starter system compatible with Android, to bridge the gap between B2G and devices. So we can deduce that Android will be key to the development of B2G, but the idea of independence from him at some point, for one, try to use as possible.
Applications to serve as motivation, as proof of concept to show the capabilities of B2G.
Mozilla tells that once the library pdf.js developed to make the PDF format becomes a subset of HTML, in other words, successfully achieved a natural integration of both technologies. Similarly want to do for more deeper layers of the traditional operating systems. By the way, I should mention that the mastermind behind B2G is Dr. Andreas Gal, an expert in security and virtualization.
As expected, Mozilla and began development of B2G with code hosted on GitHub, at the time of writing only a README file.
Many years ago, companies such as Google Web believed in open and open technology platform and business. Shortly after Mozilla did but tremendous support from a community of programmers still growing and volunteers worldwide. The Open Web is using open standards and technologies, this is not talking about that site that requires the use of patented technology, exclusively monopolized or H.264, Flash, Internet Explorer, etc., but quite the opposite. Therefore, says Mozilla
we are not trying to have those applications like native executables only in Firefox, try to make them run for the Web.
Predicted by some scientists for over a decade, the Web is destined to become the place to happen (almost) everything, including our operating systems.
